Gina Gershon Talks New Book, Dating Again and Working With Tom Cruise (Nov 16, 2012) Celebuzz

If you’re buying Gina Gershon’s new book, How I Found My Pussy and Lost My Mind, and expecting to read a salacious sexual saga, expect to be sorely disappointed. Instead, the title is actually referring to her beloved cat, Cleo, and the witty and quirky events that occurred when Cleo went missing in Los Angeles for over two months.

In light of the book’s October release, Celebuzz caught up with the 50-year-old star of such movies as Bound and Showgirls to talk about the pages in her memoir, her long career in Hollywood and what it was like to work with Tom Cruise in Cocktail.

Celebuzz: In the book, you described Arthur, one of the men who helped you on your search, as an angel.
Gina Gershon: I feel like he probably was — but I’m not sure. I just know it was weird. I get skeptical talking about this stuff because it sounds so weird. I have to say he was definitely there [for me], especially the times I was really distraught, and [he] always made me feel better. He calmed me down in a really profound way. He kind of fit the description of an angel in a lot of ways.

Celebuzz: Also in the book, you had just ended a longterm relationship. Are you dating now?
GG: I am. It’s going really well. We’ll see what happens. I’m not really thinking about it too much, to be honest.

Celebuzz: You have the entire GLBT community covered with your work in Bound and Showgirls.
GG: [Laughs] It would be nice to think so, wouldn’t it? I have a nice group of fans. Listen:
It’s better than having them hate you, especially gay guys; they’re very catty, so to speak.
I have a very interesting fan base — very diverse. I like it.

Celebuzz: I have to tell you, I watch Cocktail every time it comes on TV.
GG: I haven’t see it in so long. I saw a blurb of it the the other day. I was looking at myself, and Oh my God, I had baby fat. I was so young. We were all babies. I have to say about Tom Crusie, he was pretty awesome. I always thought, What a great guy, he’s worth everything he gets. He was so nice to me — such a sweetheart.
I loved working with him.

Celebuzz: And you were in Pretty in Pink!
GG: Oh God. I was a mean girl. I only had a couple of scenes.
I came in and was mean to little Molly Ringwaldand I left.
That was one of the first things I ever did.

How I Found My Pussy and Lost My Mind is now available in bookstores nationwide.
